At Haslingden Hall Care Home in Rossendale, Lancashire, we are proud to celebrate the people, stories and everyday moments that make our home so special. During our recent Haslingden Hall Highlight Week, we shared a closer look at life in our home.
This week reflects our commitment to creating a warm, person-centred environment where residents feel valued, supported and connected.
We are delighted to introduce Shirley, a much-loved member of the Haslingden Hall family who joined our home in 2023.
Shirley quickly became known as one of our most sociable and friendly residents. She enjoys taking part in a wide range of care home activities and is especially fond of having her nails painted bright red.
Tuesday mornings are a particular favourite, when she joins the Sing & Smile sessions with a big smile and plenty of enthusiasm.
Before moving to Haslingden Hall, Shirley worked as a slipper machinist and later in a betting shop. She was happily married to her husband Victor, and together they have a son, Paul. Celebrating milestones such as Shirley’s 80th birthday reminds us how important it is to honour each resident’s life story and achievements.
We are proud to celebrate Nathan, a valued member of the Haslingden Hall team, who has successfully achieved his Level 2 qualification in Mental Health and First Aid Advocacy after completing three months of training across multiple modules.
This qualification enables Nathan to provide monthly one-to-one wellbeing sessions for residents, helping to support emotional wellbeing, encourage conversation and promote positive mental health within the home.
Nathan has been part of the Haslingden Hall family for 12 years, working as an Activity Co-ordinator and supporting the team whenever needed. His dedication reflects the compassionate, person-centred care we strive to deliver every day.
Investing in staff training helps us continue providing high-quality residential care in Rossendale and across Lancashire.
Intergenerational Session
Sing and Smile Group
Residents experienced one of those truly heart-warming mornings as they welcomed the Sing & Smile group to the home.
These intergenerational sessions bring different generations together naturally and joyfully. Intergenerational care home activities are valuable, creating moments that feel familiar, comforting and full of life.
For many residents, spending time with young children brings back treasured memories. Music has a powerful ability to unlock memories and emotions, and as familiar songs filled the room, residents joined in with clapping, foot tapping, and even dancing along.
Activities & Moments Showcase at Haslingden Hall

The Men’s Club has proven to be a great success and is now a regular activity within the home. Residents enjoyed friendly competition through games and dominoes, alongside relaxed conversation and refreshments. The club provides a welcoming social space that encourages companionship and shared interests.
One-to-One Wellbeing Sessions
Personalised one-to-one sessions are a key part of our person-centred approach to care. These sessions are tailored to individual preferences and include reading, sensory activities and self-care moments.
